Trudie Styler and Sting launch Il Palagio tasting tour at ProWein in Dusseldorf

Trudie Styler and Sting have launched the Il Palagio Tasting Tour at this year's ProWein, the world's leading trade fair for wine and spirits that was held in Dusseldorf, Germany from March 19 to 21. The traveling caravan has been designed to create a welcoming atmosphere for wine lovers from all over the world as they stop to taste Il Palagio wines and learn more about the Tuscan estate and winery during Sting's tour. The Mayor of Dusseldorf and the Prowein team welcomed Sting and Styler at the Prowein fair on Sunday. During the event, Sting also paid tribute to the late, great Chuck Berry, playing Johnny B. Goode at the fair. Sergio Herman’s AIRrepublic to open on 31 March: Reservation system now open

AIRrepublic, the restaurant and terrace café created by Sergio Herman in Cadzand, Zeeland Netherlands will open on 31st March. The restaurant has now launched its online reservation system. The restaurant is a tribute to Sergio's father. In their open kitchen, they will focus on simple preparations using products from the Zeeland region. The focus will be on classic dishes and one's which Sergio's father used to prepare. With the focus being on fish and shellfish, you will be able to find dishes like marinated clams, oysters in champagne sauce and langustines for example. The restaurant will also serve meat or roasted chicken as well as vegetarian options. The meat is supplied by renowned Belgian butcher Hendrik Dierendonck. The restaurant is located in a pavilion in the newly built marina of Cadzand within walking distance of Pure C. Blumenthal, Bains, Bosi and Atherton in fourth Mountain Gourmet Ski Experience

Curator and co-founder of the fourth Mountain Gourmet Ski Experience Heston Blumenthal has invited his friends Sat Bains, Claude Bosi and Jason Atherton to join him in Courmayeur this weekend for three days of skiing, mountain experiences, rustic regional cuisine and two dinners created and preapred by the chefs and their teams in mountain venues as the true highlights of the event. In all, 15 British chefs will be creating two dinners on the mountains of Courmayer. Blumenthal said: "This year I have invited two new hugely talented guest chefs, Claude Bosi and Jason Atherton, to  join Sat Bains for another unique collaboration & incredible alchemy for our 2 mountain dinners. Disfrutar, restaurant run by former El Bulli chefs, chosen as global rising star of the year

Disfrutar in Barcelona, a restaurant run by former El Bulli chefs has been chosen by the World's 50 Best Restaurants as the 'Miele one to watch' award for 2017. The restaurant, opened in December 2014, is a collaboration between chefs Mateu Casañas, Oriol Castro and Eduard Xatruch. The three met while cooking at former No.1 restaurant El Bulli, where they worked alongside legendary Spanish chef Ferran Adrià. “Being named this year’s winners of the Miele One To Watch Award is a huge recognition of our collective work. In addition, this award helps Disfrutar, which is a very young project, to become established and obviously encourages us to continue working and challenging ourselves.” Eduard Xatruch of Disfrutar said. 8th Chef’s gala dinner aims to raise £100,000 in aid of Children’s Liver Disease Foundation

The 8th Chefs' Gala Dinner hosted by Henry Brosi, executive chef at The Dorchester, will be held on Monday 20 March in aid of the Children's Liver Disease Foundation. Now in its eighth year, this prestigious dinner has raised over £938,000 to date, helping to transform thousands of lives affected by childhood liver disease. The CLDF is hoping to raise over £100,000 from this year's event with special prizes that have been donated by many chefs and generous donors. An online auction website will close at midday on 19th March. Those who are not attending the event are being encouraged to use the 'Maximum Bid' feature in order to increase their chance of winning auction items. The evening includes a glittering champagne and canapés reception, which will be followed by a four-course fine dining experience, followed by a raffle and auction featuring highly original and much sought after items. Sting and Trudie Styler’s winery Il Palagio launch European tasting tour to coincide with Sting’s concerts

Il Palagio, the winery owned by world renowned singer Sting and his wife Trudie Styler, a film producer, director and human rights activist is launching a tasting tour that is aimed at meeting citizens of the world who enjoy food, wine and culture. Featuring wines named Sister Moon, When we Dance, Casino delle Vie, Beppe Rosato, Message in a Bottle White and Message in a Bottle Red, the first stop of the traveling caravan will be in Dusseldorf, Germany from March 19 to March 21 for the world's leading trade fair for wines and spirits ProWein. The traveling caravan is aimed to create an atmosphere that welcomes wine lovers from all over the world as they stop by to taste Il Palagio wines and learn more about the Tuscan estate and winery. Heston Blumenthal gets Lifetime Achievement award: ‘The future is very exciting’

The man who became famous for his egg-and-bacon ice cream and snail porridge many years ago has been awarded the 2017 Diners Club Lifetime Achievement Award. Celebrated chef Heston Blumenthal of The Fat Duck and Dinner by Heston Blumenthal received the prestigious honour which is part of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants awards, which will take place on April 5th at the Royal Exhibition Building in Melbourne, Australia.  “I am honoured, thrilled and really quite excited to be given The Diners Club Lifetime Achievement Award. For me, this award is particularly special because it’s voted by my peers. After 20 years of The Fat Duck, I now feel like I’m just starting – and those 20 years were my apprenticeship. The future is very, very exciting.” One of the culinary world’s most influential figures, Blumenthal, 50, is largely self-taught. Paul Cunningham clinches second Michelin star: “I did not see it coming”

Paul Cunningham, chef of Henne Kirkeby Kro in Henne on the rugged coast of Denmark got the surprise of his life as he clinched the second Michelin star after receiving the first last year. "I did not see it coming," he said. "It was a wonderful surprising experience. I am humbled, grateful and proud. My Hennefolk, I love you," he said. Known for his bold and dramatic cooking, Paul said that this was the absolute highlight of his career in the kitchen and thanked everyone for the beautiful messages which made 'an old man very happy.' Many took to Twitter to congratulate the English chef. Among them was Gelinaz!, the collective of chefs of which he is a member. They called him a 'GELINAZ Masterkiddo'. Among the chefs who congratulated him on Twitter were Michel Roux Jr, Tom Kitchin, Nathan Outlaw, Tim Allen and Jp McMahon. Chocolate fashion show inaugurates this year’s edition of Salon du Chocolat in Brussels

The 2017 edition of the Salon du Chocolat kicked off on Thursday evening at Tour et Taxis with the traditional chocolate fashion show. Chocolatiers joined forces with Belgian designers to create a number of spectacular outfits which were paraded by Belgian television and radio personalities. Among the chocolatiers taking part this year were bean to bar chocolatier Benoit Nihant, Didier Smeets, Jean-Philippe Darcis, Joost Arijs, Laurent Gerbaud, Sigoji and Valentino (full list of designers and chocolatiers below) Benoit Nihant used the 'bean' to dress concept to design the dress with Fabrice Bertrang. Nadia Flecha Guazo of Chokolate designed a splendid Mayan inspired chocolate outfit with chocolate lace and Mayan earrings, necklace and a sculpted in bas-relief with dark chocolate painted in green and gold edible dusts (see photos below). Frites Atelier Amsterdam by Sergio Herman to open in Antwerp this week

The much awaited Frites Atelier Amsterdam, a french fries chain created by one of the world's most talented chefs Sergio Herman, will be opening in the Belgian city of Antwerp on Friday. Launched last year in the Netherlands, this will be the first Frites Atelier Amsterdam in Belgium (and the fourth shop selling french fries). The shop which opens from 11am on Friday and is located in Gasthuisstraat. This is the second venture of Sergio Herman in Antwerp following the very successful opening of The Jane (Antwerp, Belgium), a two Michelin star restaurant set up together with chef Nick Bril. There seems to be no stopping Sergio Herman. After deciding to stop cooking full time at the end of 2013 when he closed his three Michelin star restaurant Oud Sluis in the Netherlands he has successfully launched new projects like The Jane, further developed Pure C, created Frites Atelier and later this year will open Air Republic in Cadzand.
