Vicky Lau’s new restaurant Mora is all about soy

HONG KONG: Despite current restrictions, chef Vicky Lau has opened a new restaurant together with co-founder Romain Herbreteau and head chef Percy Ho. The new restaurant Mora, an intimate 28-seater French-Chinese restaurant will showcase one of Asia's oldest culinary traditions: soy food. It has opened in the historic street if Upper Lascar Row in Sheung Wan. The location connects Mora to Hong Kong's fascinating history with a Chinese character that represents texture. Mora pays tribute to the humble yet versatile ingredient soy which is a pillar of Asian cuisine and culture. Not only does it play an important role in Asian diets, it is a driving force for heritage, tradition and mindfulness. Its fragility in cuisine can endure time and temperature while being fleeting and subtle. First authentic American smokehouse to open in Hong Kong

HONG KONG: SMOKE & BARREL, which opens its doors on 32 Wyndham Street, Central, Hong Kong in early October promises to be the first authentic American smokehouse barbecue joint. The brainchild of chef-restaurateur duo Chris Grare and Arron Rhodes, Smoke & Barrel follows hot on the trails of their first successful restaurant co-venture, Kinship, that opened in May 2019. Leading the Smoke & Barrel kitchen will be Southern native Head Chef Christopher Tuthill, who has roots in Albuquerque, New Mexico, together with American Chef Chris Grare. Prior to joining Smoke & Barrel, Chef Tuthill helmed the kitchen at prestigious private member’s club The American Club Hong Kong, in addition to spending 9 years working in Texas – the state hailed as the birthplace of barbecue. Ricardo Chaneton to open his first restaurant MONO in Hong Kong in December

HONG KONG: Chef Ricardo Chaneton, formerly Head Chef of the 3 Michelin Star and World’s no 1 restaurant (2019) Mirazur is set to open his first restaurant MONO in Hong Kong together with JIA Group, the Hong Kong- based hospitality firm that operates 14 restaurants in Hong Kong founded by Yenn Wong. MONO will open its doors on On Lan Street, Central, introducing a new take on contemporary French cuisine by South American-born Ricardo, who has worked and trained extensively in French cuisine throughout this career. Most recently, he was the Executive Chef of Petrus at Island Shangri-La Hong Kong, where he spent 4 years leading an award-winning team. Maxime Gilbert to host Vincent Thierry at Écriture on 12 August

HONG KONG: Le Comptoir’s 2-Michelin-Star contemporary French restaurant, ÉCRITURE, will host award-winning chef Vincent Thierry of CHEF’S TABLE, The Dome at Lebua for a special collaboration dinner on Monday, August 12. Joining forces with Écriture’s own Maxime Gilbert, the two pioneering French chefs will present an exclusive 9-course joint menu featuring creative French cuisine available for one night only. A native of the Loire Valley – known as the ‘Garden of France’ and renowned for its wine, goat’s cheese and fresh produce – Chef Vincent sums up his cooking ethos as “classic French cuisine with simplicity and unpretentiousness”. Vicky Lau welcomes three female chefs for unique lunch at Tate Dining Room in Hong Kong

Hong Kong Chef Vicky Lau has invited three Asian female chefs to cook together at a unique collaboration lunch that will take place at the Tate Dining Room on 27 March. With Asia’s biggest culinary award ceremony just around the corner on 26th March, Hong Kong and Macau are preparing for the arrival of top chefs and esteemed gourmands from around the region. To celebrate this occasion, Chef Vicky Lau is organising a lunch bringing together four powerhouse chefs at Tate Dining Room to prepare a special lunch for discerning guests. Vicky Lau to organise series of charity events for International Women’s Day

HONG KONG: Vicky Lau, one of Hong Kong’s leading female chefs and chef of Michelin starred TATE Dining Room, as well as best female chef of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2015, has unveiled a series of culinary events that will take place on Friday 8 March 2019 to coincide with the International Women’s Day. Proceeds from the events will be donated to the Women’s Foundation, a non-profit organisation  dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls in Hong Kong through groundbreaking research, impactful community programs and education and advocacy of the empowerment of the female voice. Aulis Hong Kong is open, Roganic to open next month

Aulis Hong Kong, the brainchild of renowned British chef Simon Rogan, has opened for soft launch in the heart of Causeway Bay, Hong Kong. As Simon Rogan’s first international restaurant venture, Aulis is a branch of his revolutionary chef’s table and development kitchen, bringing a taste of two-Michelin-starred L’Enclume to Hong Kong. In February, Simon and his team will open their second Hong Kong venture Roganic – mirroring Simon’s one Michelin starred London restaurant of the same name.  The 12-seater Aulis arrived in Asia after the successful launch of Aulis Cartmel within L’Enclume in the Lake District in 2016. This followed with the opening of Aulis London in 2017 as a standalone development kitchen for Rogan’s London-based team of chefs at Roganic, which opened in January 2018. HAKU, the innovative Japanese restaurant led by Argentinian Chef Agustin Balbi, will be joining forces with Virgilio Martinez and chef Pia León of CENTRAL Restaurante in a one-night-exclusive collaboration dinner on Saturday, 19 January. The special 8-course menu include signature dishes that showcase the award-winning culinary prowess of the three chefs. Under the guidance of legendary Japanese chef Hideaki Matsuo (3*) of Kashiwaya in Osaka, the creations at HAKU have been curated through years of experience in the culinary field. British chef Simon Rogan to open 2 restaurants in Hong Kong

Renowned British chef Simon Rogan is set to open two new restaurants in Hong Kong at the beginning of next year. This is the first time that Rogan is venturing outside the UK. The first will be Aulis Hong Kong.which is his first ever overseas chef's table and development kitchen concept in the heart of Hong Kong in early January 2019. It will be followed by the opening of sister venue Roganic Hong Kong in early February 2019. Simon already has five restaurants to his name including the 2 Michelin starred L'Enclume in the Lake District, 1-Michelin starred Roganic in London and the 1 Michelin starred Rogan and Co. in Cartmel.
