On Wednesday 19 December, just three days before the last service at Hertog Jan, 6 of Asia’s top chefs will be guests of Gert De Mangeleer and Joachim Boudens and cook a dinner in aid of Music for Life.
Together with Gert and the entire team of Hertog Jan, they will cook a special dinner that evening in aid of Music for Life 2019.
Gert and Joachim announced the closure of their three Michelin star restaurant in Zedelgem on the outskirts of Brugge in January this year. They have decided to conclude the Hertog Jan chapter meaningfully. All the proceeds from the evening will be donated to the Alexine Clarysse Fund.
For the evening, there are only 26 places available and these will be auctioned. This is a unique opportunity to experience a final dinner at Hertog Jan while at the same time supporting a charitable event.
2018 has been a very special year for Hertog Jan founders Gert de Mangeleer and Joachim Boudens. Later this month, on 22 December, they will close a chapter in their career and make room for new culinary adventures.
The chefs that will take part in this unique event are Kawate from restaurant Florilege in Tokyo, Takada from La Cime restaurant in Osaka, Katayama from restaurant Rakushin in Osaka, Seki from Gion Ichido in Kyoto, Richie Lin from restaurant Mume in Taipei and Jordy Navarra from restaurant Toyo Eatery in Manila.
Gert and Joachim have decided to donate the entire proceeds to the Alexine Clarysse Fund which provides financial support to specific research into child cancer treatments that are organised by the Anticancer Fund in collaboration with scientifically recognised research centres.
Alexine was diagnosed with acute leukemia at the age of 6 in November 2010. It would be a courageous but difficult battle which the young girl unfortunately lost on December 24, 2011. During her fight, Alexine set up the fund herself.
A ticket for two to experience this unique evening and enjoy a 7 course menu with wines and drinks is available by bidding on the following link. Bidding is possible up to Monday 17 December.
The event takes place on Wednesday 19 December at 7pm at Hertog Jan, Loppemsestraat 52, Zedelgem.
