HONG KONG: Roganic Hong Kong, the restaurant of British chef and founder Simon Rogan’s urban farm-to-table concept is introducing a series of new baking classes on Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays led by executive chef Oli Marlow.
And the response has been excellent because the April classes have all been sold out and the restaurant is now taking bookings for May 2020.
Guests may choose between two sessions throughout the day, including a morning (10am start) and afternoon (3pm start) class. On Thursdays and Fridays, workshops will be limited to morning sessions (10am start) only. Each workshop will include a three-course lunch with one glass of Simon Rogan’s Exton Park Sparkling Wine, and the creation of two iconic Roganic dishes to bake and take home.
Welcoming home cooks of different skill levels, Chef Oli will lead a step-by-step demonstration of how to create Roganic’s signature Irish Soda Bread and the famous Apple Tart dessert. The recipe of the traditional Irish Soda Bread originated from Roganic in London, when one of the Irish chefs baked his mum’s soda bread recipe for the staff.
The delicious bread became an instant hit, and is now served as an official signature dish in both Roganic London and Hong Kong. Roganic’s Apple Tart is a modern take on the classic apple tart, one of Chef Oli’s all-time favourite desserts. The apples are sliced using a Japanese mandolin, resulting in unique, razor-thin ribbons.
“With more people practicing social distancing and staying at home, we’re starting to see a lot of home chefs cooking and baking in their kitchens. We’d like to introduce a fun (and safe!) new way to engage our customers during these testing times,” says Executive Chef Oli Marlow.
Further details on the events can be found here.
Roganic first opened in 2011 in Marylebone as a two-year pop-up, a sister restaurant to L’Enclume. Five years later, Roganic returned to London, bringing elements of L’Enclume, Simon Rogan’s two Michelin star restaurant in the Lake District. The team is comprised of the original Roganic line up, amongst other past and present employees of UMBEL Restaurant Group. Roganic runs alongside Aulis London, a development kitchen and eight-seat chef’s table which opened in Soho on 14th October 2017. Now, Roganic Hong Kong opened alongside AULIS Hong Kong since mid-February, 2019.
