More details emerge of GELINAZ! DOES UPPER AUSTRIA

July 10, 2017 by Ivan Brincat Leave a Comment

Tickets for GELINAZ! DOES UPPER AUSTRIA will be out for sale on Thursday 13 July at 10am. After the acclaimed ‘restaurant swap’ in 2016, the Grand Gelinaz! Shuffle (2) and Brussels Headquarters involving 60 of the world’s most pioneering and cutting edge chefs, Gelinaz will be back with an even more daredevil project that takes place on 20 August.

GELINAZ! DOES UPPER-AUSTRIA is an itinerant and experimental culinary performance, articulated through seven varying spaces within the restaurant of legendary Austrian father & son Helmut and Philip Rachinger, of restaurant Mühltalhof at Neufelden (Mühlviertel).

The spirit of the event is collective. Philip and Helmut will choose 3 core ‘Matrix’ dishes. Working in small teams of three and four, these dishes will be deconstructed, dismantled, cut into pieces and remixed by the 24 participating international and Austrian chefs.

Chefs will be asked to freely reinterpret every dish, but will  be allowed to change some of the original ingredients and add seasonal produce from Upper-Austria to their new creations.

Guests, in groups of 20, will follow their way through various locations in and around Mühltalhof. At every stage they will taste the remixed dishes prepared by the guest chefs.

The final space, will be known as The Gathering – a massive artistic place of work called the HEIM.ART®-Station, just five minutes from the restaurant and run by artist Joachim Eckl who has been appointed as the art curator of the event. He will be inviting along several, like-minded international contemporary artists to create generative soundscapes interacting with the chefs.

Guests are not expected to starve. All in all, 14 dishes will be served to 140 guests. A ticket will cost 250 Euros.

Like all Gelinaz! events, guests will be transported into another world. Organisers Andrea Petrini and Alexandra Swenden, the two curaotrs of this culinary hub bringing together artists, musicians, scientists, thinkers and producers with chefs are are renowned for constantly pushing the boundardies of their projects are promising that you will meet some of the world’s most cutting edge chefs, grant yourself a new  dysfunctional family and try tomorrow’s cuisine.

The official opening of this 4 days Austrian discovery will happen on August 16th. All participating chefs will arrive in Vienna, stroll around the beautiful city and then meet for an exceptional get-together-dinner at famous restaurant Steirereck.

GELINAZ! is a world-wide think-tank of avant-garde chefs performing food and remixing each other’s dishes like in a DJ set giving form to culinary happenings where art, music and cuisine fusion in unexpected and improvisational ways.

It is a collective made by chefs for chefs, never repeating itself with no competition in mind and was, at core, solely created to give something back to an ever-evolving industry, adapting to unpredictable situations and charting new territory.
