New uniforms for Hisa Franko as Ana Ros enters collaboration with designer Matea Benedetti

August 5, 2021 by Ivan Brincat Leave a Comment

Ana Ros, chef of Hisa Franko and Matea Benedetti, a Slovenian award-winning fashion designer have created a new range of uniforms for the restaurant which not only use non-animal textiles but also reflect both their deep love for nature.

“The new uniforms of the service team reflect the soul of the restaurant and the beautiful environment the restaurant is part of,” Ana Ros said about the new collaboration.

Ana and Matea met through a common friend and they immediately understood each other and became friends which was no surprise. Matea said: “It is because we both have the same deep love for nature.”

Ana said she had been following Matea Benedetti’s work for some time and had always admired daring people. “Our view of life is similarly colourful but above all it is very close to nature. One morning while I was staring across the meadows towards the mountain Km with coffee in hand, I was thinking about the future. It was just a few weeks before the reopening of the restaurant. Worries and fears in my head had accumulated to such an extent that I did not even stop to notice the beauty around me. But that view of all the green around me woke me up. I picked up the phone and called Matea. “Let’s do something, crazy,” I told her. We brought wild, colourful, green and lush nature to the restaurant. They were all ecological materials, images of ferns, dandelions, dragonflies turned the atmosphere in the restaurant into a catwalk, a theatrical performance with a single clear message about how beautiful the world is.

The uniforms are made entirely from non-animal textiles. Men’s jackets and polo shirts are made from 100 per cent organic cotton and digitally printed on a water basis. Women’s clothing is made of viscose, printed with motifs of meadow plants and animals from butterflies to poppies and dandelions. Sommelier’s clothing is adorned with a pattern of vines and grapes. The colour palette is natural that reflects the warmth of Hisa Franko’s interior. The design of the uniforms are made by the brand Benedetti Life and were completely designed by Matea Benedetti while the patterns were designed by Bojan Ceglar.

Benedetti Life is a sustainable, luxurious and animal-friendly fashion brand founded by Slovenian award-winning fashion designer Matea Benedetti who was among the first in the world, alongside Louis Vuitton, to design a floral evening dress from a wooden box for the Red Carpet Green Dress ™ for the Pre-Oscars Gala, Los Angeles.

She was also among the five finalists for the prestigious “Green Carpet Awards” at Milan’s La Scala. Already in 2014, Vogue Italia defined it as one of the most promising organic brands. Benedetti Life won the title of “Best Sustainable and Luxury Brand of the Year” at the Eluxe Awards in London and was named, along with Stella McCartney, one of the top five luxury and vegan fashion brands on the market. Matea’s passion is to design with ecological innovations made of wood, pineapple, apples and other biodegradable textiles. She fulfills her mission by making positive changes in fashion in order to secure a future for future generations.

It is possible to purchase some items of the line in the Hiša Franko shop, just across the courtyard of the restaurant. Everything from T-shirts, belts and masks will be soon available also in the Hiša Franko online shop. The two said this was just the beginning of a beautiful story.
