We are passionate about food and wine. There is a certain bias to Brussels and Belgium since we are based in the Belgian capital since 2005. We have spent most of our lives living in the Mediterranean island of Malta so you may also find a certain emphasis on all things Mediterranean.
But we do not limit ourselves to Belgium or Malta.
Launched in September 2014, we bring you a different approach to the food and wine world. We go to events, interview chefs, producers, entrepreneurs in the food and wine world always looking for the story behind.
Given the founder’s background as a former journalist, we try to uncover the stories of chefs, producers, and wine makers among others. We are always looking for what inspires them.
We pride ourselves of our interviews which you can find in our menu. We are always looking for an interesting story to tell.
A few words about our philosophy and policies. Our only constraint for now is time, given this is a hobby and a way to pursue our passion. But, we are highly opinionated about certain issues.
It is not our intention to give points, stars or whatever to things we recommend. If we enjoy the experience, we write about it, it’s as simple as that. We view the points or star system only as a way of guiding consumers. Our philosophy is based on the fact that there can be no such thing as “the best meal or wine in the world.”
We value transparency and independence. So if you find any recommendations from us, you can rest assured that we have paid for it. If on occasion we are invited, then we shall make this clear in our article.
We believe that there are people doing great work to raise awareness on important issues such as food waste, obesity, the importance of cooking with fresh ingredients and given we share this philosophy we have a certain bias towards people who are passionate about this like us.
Apart from bringing you information about food, wine and travel, we make recommendations on places we visit and like. Like a friend who gives you a suggestion, we only recommend places, producers or artisans we really like. So you can trust us that whatever is on Food and Wine Gazette meets this criteria.
